Tampa, FL (The Weekly Vice) - Candace Hauser, a 31-year-old Florida woman, was jailed last week after she allegedly performed a C-section on a friend's dog without anesthesia, then used glue to seal up the wound.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the dog's owner brought her pregnant mastiff, Nadia, to Hauser's home on March 4th after Hauser told the woman that she could provide medical help and deliver the dog's litter of puppies.
During the delivery, 9 puppies were successfully delivered, however, Hauser had difficulty delivering the last two pups.
Instead of taking the dog to a licensed vet (several of which were located within miles of Hauser's Winter Haven home), Hauser allegedly cut open the dog using a kitchen knife and manually removed the two remaining puppies. Hauser then sealed up the dog's wound with non-medical glue and did not use anesthesia during the procedure.
Investigators say the dog died during the car ride back to the owner's home. About 12 hours later the dog's owner took the animal to a local vet and stated that the dog was dying. The vet told the dog's owner that her dog was already dead and contacted the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Following an investigation, Hauser was booked into jail and charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.
