Coral Springs, FL. (The Weekly Vice) - Jennifer Forshey, a 58-year-old teacher at Broward Community Charter School, has been jailed after she allegedly forced a student to unclog a urinal with his bare hands.
According to police, an investigation was launched after Forshey ordered a 10-year-old student to remove wads of urine soaked paper towels from a urinal in the school's bathroom.
Investigators say the boy denied using the urinal, but stated that he was forced to remove the paper towels from the urinal with his hands and a paper towel. No protective gear was provided to remove the towels and the restroom soap dispenser was empty.
School officials learned of the incident when the boy came into an administrator's office looking for hand soap.
Investigators who arrived on the scene say the boy's hands were "saturated in what smelled like urine." Another teacher who witnessed the incident stated that Forshey instructed the student to wash his hands under running water.
During a police interview, Forshey admitted to telling the student to "clean the paper towels out" of the urinal without providing him with anything to prevent contact with the urine. She then stated that she saw nothing wrong with what she had done until she was arrested.
Forshey was booked into jail and charged with battery on a child by exposure to urine. She was released on Thursday after posting $1,000 bond.
