Pinellas Park, FL (The Weekly Vice) - Jett Jones, a 29-year-old Florida man, was jailed Thursday after he allegedly tried to steal a cash register from a gift store, but ended up being chased by employees, customers, police and a police k-9 unit.
According to Pinellas Park Police, Jones snuck into the back of an Edible Arrangements gift store Thursday, hid on top of a freezer and waited for the business to close.
Once Jones was sure the store had closed, he came out of hiding and cut the cord to cash register. That's when a store employee who had returned from a delivery interrupted him.
Jones allegedly grabbed the register and ran out of the store with several store employees and customers hot on his tail. At some point Jones pulled out a knife and threatened one of his pursuers with it.
Jones eventually dumped the cash register and hid behind a residence a short distance away from the store. A k-9 unit that was brought in successfully located Jones and dragged him to the ground where he was arrested.
Police recovered a pocket knife and a pair of latex gloves near the scene.
He was booked into jail and charged with armed robbery and armed burglary. His bail has been set at $100,000.
