Austin, TX (The Weekly Vice) - Chenxi Deng, a 22-year-old Chinese student, was jailed Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend in the face with a fork after she refused to rekindle their relationship.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the University of Texas campus Wednesday night after Deng stabbed a woman in the face with a fork after she refused his requests to rekindle their relationship.
The victim, whose name has not been released, is enrolled in a masters program at the university, while Deng is not.
Deng told investigators that he and the victim were dating while they were both students at a University in China. The relationship reportedly became estranged when she left China to pursue a masters degree at the University of Texas in Austin.
Deng researched the masters program for himself in order to learn what classes his ex-girlfriend would be taking. He then traveled to the U.S. and then loitered outside various classrooms at the university until he finally met up with her outside the Engineering-Science building.
Investigators say the victim attempted to evade Deng and warned him that she would call police if he didn't leave her alone. Instead of heeding the woman's warning, Deng allegedly followed her while arguing his case for a rekindled romance.
At some point during the argument, Deng reportedly pulled out a fork out of his pocket and stabbed the woman in the face. Fellow students heard the woman scream and came to her aid as Deng stood by holding the fork in his hand.
When police arrived on the scene they found a victim with four puncture wounds to her nose, a pool of blood on the floor and a bloody fork nearby. Four witnesses had restrained Deng until police could arrive.
Deng was booked into jail and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
