Gila Bend, AZ (The Weekly Vice) - Anna Ochoa, a 26-year-old Arizona woman, was jailed Friday after she allegedly burned her toddler son on a stove top burner because he wet his pants.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, an investigation was launched last week when an anonymous caller contacted Child Protective Services and told them that Ochoa was "aggressive and abusive" with her children, especially her 2-year-old son.
The caller also told CPS workers that Ochoa was heard on several making statements such as "I am going to hurt him because I am fed up with him" and "I don't love him."
During the investigation, CPS workers discovered that Ochoa's toddler son had been severely burned, and that the burns had gone untreated.
Ochoa told deputies that she removed the toddler's clothing and then held him over a heated stove top burner after she became angry with him for wetting his pants.
After the boy had been "punished" Ochoa dressed the boy and then got herself ready for work.
A forensic medical examination revealed, however, that the boy's burns were consistent with being placed in direct contact with the stove burner - due in part to the shape and severity of the burns.
The boy also showed other injuries that included blisters on his fingers and lips and multiple bruises on his lower back.
Ochoa was booked into jail and charged with one count of child abuse. Her three children (ages 1, 2 and 4) have been placed into protective custody.
