Evansville, IN (The Weekly Vice) - Chase Mattingly, 21, and Cammie Mattingly, 23, were jailed Wednesday morning after they allegedly left three young children alone in their car while they went to court in downtown Evansville.
According to Evansville Police, officers were dispatched around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning to a parking area near the downtown courthouse after a pedestrian walked past the Mattingly's car and noted three small children that had been left alone inside.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found three children locked inside the car - ages 3-years-old, 23-months-old, and 7-months old.
Although the doors had been locked, the vehicle was missing a back window which had been covered with tape. The officer removed the tape and unlocked the car's doors.
Officers processed the vehicle's license plate and learned that it was registered to Chase Mattingly. Chase and Cammie Mattingly, officers learned, were inside the courthouse at the time for a scheduled court appearance.
Evansville Police contacted the Vanderburgh Sheriff's Office, who then located Chase And Cammie and brought them to Evansville Police for questioning.
They were booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail and charged with three counts of child neglect. The children were placed into protective custody until further notice.
According to the couple's Facebook pages, they were married just a little more than a week ago and appear to be off to a great start.
