Bradford, Pa. (The Weekly Vice) - Alfredo Malespini III, a 31-year-old Pennsylvania man, was charged earlier this month after he allegedly tried to shoot off his wedding ring.
According to Bradford City Police, officers were dispatched to a Bradford residence after 911 operators received a report that a man was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
When officers arrived at the residence, they looked through a window and saw an unarmed man inside the kitchen area of the home.
Officers entered the residence, found a handgun on the kitchen counter, and immediately secured it. Officers then assisted the man who was bleeding heavily from his hand and standing in a pool of his own blood.
The man, later identified as Alfredo Malespini, told officers that he became injured when he used the gun to shoot a wedding ring off of his finger. Officers inspected the man's hand and saw that his ring finger was almost completely severed from his hand. The ring, however, had survived the shooting and was still intact on the man's finger.
Malespini, who is employed at the Federal Correctional Institution in McKean, told officers that he was outside in his yard when he aimed the gun at the ring and attempted to shoot it off his finger. Police noted in their report that Malespini was "highly intoxicated" when they arrived on the scene.
He was charged with endangering another person, disorderly conduct and firing a weapon inside the city limits of Bradford.
