According to Palisades Interstate Police, Speight was traveling northbound on Palisades Interstate Parkway Thursday when officers noted that the license tag on his Mitsubishi Lancer were partially obstructed or otherwise unreadable.
After performing a routine traffic stop, officers smelled burnt marijuana as they approached the vehicle. Officers made contact with the driver, Rasoul Speight, and requested his permission to search the vehicle.
Speight, who is listed in police records as a known Bloods gang member, agreed to the search. He and the front seat passenger, identified as Gary Sylak, exited the vehicle while officers conducted their search.
Although the search did not turn up anything illegal, officers took Speight and Skylak into custody because they both had outstanding traffic warrants for their arrest.
While officers processed Speight into a holding cell down at police headquarters, they discovered that he was concealing 100 bags of heroin inside his anus.
