Granbury, TX (The Weekly Vice) - Linda White, a 48-year-old Granbury woman, was jailed last week after she allegedly called 911 and demanded cigarettes.
According to the Hood County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched Feb 11 to White's residence after 911 operators received a call from an intoxicated woman at the residence who wanted them to deliver cigarettes to her home.
During the call, the dispatcher requested White's name and address several times, however White provided a false name and never gave her address. After approximately 30 seconds, White claimed that she had the wrong number and hung up.
Deputies arrived at the scene and found White intoxicated. When she was questioned about her 911 call, she stated that she thought it would be amusing to call 911 and place an order for cigarettes.
White spoke to local press after the incident, hoping to explain herself.
"We were just kicking it in the back yard - a few beers too many," she explained. "Next thing you know, we're out of cigarettes. Well, I didn't want to drive to town. I was drunk, you know, but in my back yard."
"Who's the safest person to call," she continued. "Your police department, I thought."
Deputies were not amused and explained to White why cigarette delivery would not be a proper use for 911.
She was booked into jail and charged with abusing 911.
