Albuquerque, New Mexico (The Weekly Vice) - Vaughn Godwin, a 27-year-old New Mexico man was jailed over the weekend after he allegedly tried to have his vandalism charges dropped by turning in his own mother for selling marijuana.
According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, deputies went to Godwin's apartment to arrest him after he allegedly sold meth to a confidential informant.
When deputies searched his apartment in connection with the meth allegations, they allegedly found the residence vandalized. The walls were reportedly punched in and covered with spray paint graffiti.
Godwin initially blamed a friend for the apartment's destruction, but later confessed to vandalizing the residence himself. He then told deputies his entire situation was his mother's fault because she stopped giving him money.
Hoping to have his charges dropped, Godwin told deputies that his mother sold marijuana and that by arresting her, perhaps he could be considered an informant instead of a suspect.
Godwin misjudged.
He was booked into jail and charged with property damage/vandalism.
