Clarence Pergeson - Looking For New Girlfriend After Setting Former Girlfriend On Fire

Albuquerque, New Mexico (The Weekly Vice) - Clarence "Ray" Pergeson, a 54-year-old Albuquerque man, allegedly brought his dating life to an abrupt end after he allegedly set his ex-girlfriend on fire.

According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, officers were dispatched to the scene June 19 after receiving a report of domestic violence.

When officers arrived, paramedics were preparing to take a severely burned woman to a local hospital where she is currently listed to be in critical condition.

Her alleged attacker, identified as Clarence Pergeson, reportedly set the woman on fire while she was inside a vehicle. Pergeson then fled the scene in a truck before crashing it a short time later. He then abandoned the truck and fled on a bicycle.

Investigators say Pergeson was apprehended about a week later, and taken to a local hospital where he was treated for burns to his hands and face. The victim described Pergeson as a stalker, and stated that they were arguing when he locked her inside her vehicle, doused her with gasoline, and lit her on fire.

When Pergeson is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on charges of attempted murder and aggravated arson. More charges may be filed.
