Bradenton, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Zoraida Garcia, a 59-year-old Florida woman was jailed Monday after she was allegedly caught by a deputy beating a dog in the head with a flashlight.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was inspecting a Bradenton area business when he heard a dog yelping out in pain from across the street.
When the deputy moved closer to investigate, he saw a woman beating a dog in the head with what appeared to be a metal flashlight.
When the deputy ordered the woman to stop, she continued to beat the dog in an aggressive manner. The woman, later identified as Zoraida Garcia, finally stopped beating the dog when deputies moved in to arrest her.
Zoraida was booked into the Manatee County Jail and charged with cruelty to animals with injury.
The dog was taken into custody by Animal Services and treated for blunt force trauma. The dog's owner relinquished custody of the dog to Animal Services because of the cost associated with treating the animal's injuries.
