Todd Schrier - Jailed After Intoxicated Dog Shows Up At Bar

Helena, Montana (The Weekly Vice) - Todd Harold Schrier, a 49-year-old Helena man was jailed after he allegedly got his dog intoxicated at more than four times the legal driving limit.

According to East Helena police, officers were called to a local bar where two men found a dog that appeared to be heavily intoxicated.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found that the Pomeranian breed pooch named Arly II, was so drunk that it couldn't stand up or walk. T

Schrier, who was identified as the dog's owner, was apprehended at another local bar the same night. Officers also found a bag of hydrocodone pills on the ground near the area Schrier was standing.

Schrier told police that the dog had consumed a "to-go" sized cup full of vodka in his vehicle before they went into the bar.

Officers transported the dog to a local veterinarian, where it's blood-alcohol level tested at 0.348 percent.

The dog was kept in the animal hospital for 3 days due to alcohol poisoning, then was taken to the Lewis and Clark Humane society. Where he ends up depends on the outcome of the case.

The veterinarian who treated the dog stated that in the 20 years she had been practicing, she has treated dogs for various accidental alcohol consumption cases, such as dogs eating jello shots or drinking beer from people's glasses at barbecues. However, she had never seen anyone intentionally get their dog drunk or had seen a dog with alcohol poisoning.

Schrier was booked into jail and charged with animal cruelty and possession. he is currently being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
