San Diego County, California (The Weekly Vice) - Richard Dale Fox, a 39-year-old Potrero man was jailed Tuesday after he accidentally killed his 38-year-old girlfriend with a home-made cannon.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, Fox was loading a miniature cannon with fireworks powder when it reportedly exploded inside the family's mobile home.
Police arrived to find an unidentified woman dead from shrapnel wounds. Other family members inside the mobile home, including the woman's 4-year-old daughter, were uninjured by the blast.
Fox was taken to a local hospital and treated for shrapnel wounds to his right leg. He was then apprehended upon release. Officers believe Fox was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Fox was booked into the San Diego Central Jail and charged with negligent discharge of explosives causing injury or death. He is currently being held without bail and is due to appear in court on Thursday.
