Smyrna, Ga. (The Weekly Vice) - Angela Hernandez, a 28-year-old Georgia woman was jailed Tuesday after police found her five children living in a home filled with crawling roaches and dog feces.
According to Smyrna Police, officers were dispatched to the residence after the father of one of her children called with concerns about the deplorable conditions her children were living in.
Officers arrived to find the apartment filled with crawling roaches, dog feces and spoiled food, according to police spokesman, Michael Smith.
Investigators say roaches were crawling on the walls and the ceilings. What little food existed in the apartment was spoiled and cluttered about the residence.
Detectives tried to interview Hernandez at the scene, however she smelled of alcohol and appeared incoherent. Five children (ages 3 months to 12 years old) were found inside the residence along with two dogs.
The only power to the residence came from an extension cord that ran down an exterior wall from an upstairs apartment. Hernandez used the cord to power two lamps.
Hernandez was booked into the Cobb County Jail on a charge of felony cruelty to children.
