Tanya Lightsey - Blamed Toothache After Multiple Drugs Are Found In Baby's System

Horry County, South Carolina (The Weekly Vice) - Tanya Lightsey, a 27-year-old Conway resident was jailed after she reportedly stated that a toothache was to blame when her baby tested positive for multiple drugs.

According to Horry County Police, officers were notified after Lightsey gave birth to a child that tested positive for several drugs including cocaine, opiates and Benzo (a drug often prescribed to persons with insomnia and anxiety disorders).

When detectives questioned Lightsey, she claimed that her child had a positive drug test because she had rubbed cocaine on her gums to alleviate a toothache. No explanation was offered for the other drugs found in the newborn's system.

Lightsey was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and charged with unlawful neglect of a child. She is currently being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.

Court records show that in 2010, Lightsey was investigated after another child was born with drugs in it's system.
