Steven Saul - Jailed After Assaulting Grandmother After She Refused To Give Him Drug Money

Deltona, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Steven Saul, a 34-year-old Deltona man was jailed Tuesday after he allegedly beat his grandmother after she refused to give him drug money.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched after receiving a complaint of alleged domestic violence.

When deputies arrived at the residence, Saul's 84-year-old grandmother explained that she and her grandson had gotten into an argument when she refused to give him money. She explained that he regularly used drugs and knew that he would use the money to purchase them.

Investigators say Saul became angry and retaliated by shoving his grandmother into a parked vehicle as she attempted to leave the residence. Although he attempted to grab her purse, the woman was able to keep him from taking it.

Saul told deputies that he was the one attempting to leave and that his grandmother was injured after being struck by her own car door. He reportedly changed his story when the woman's injuries were not consistent with his explanation.

Saul was booked into the Volusia County Jail and charged with domestic battery on a person over 65.
