Daniel Hegwood - Jailed After Robbing Bank With McDonalds Apple Pies

Sacramento, California (The Weekly Vice) - Daniel Hegwood, a 33-year-old Sacramento man was jailed after he allegedly tried to rob a bank with a bag of McDonald's apple pies, claiming it was a bomb.

According to Sacramento Police, Hegwood walked into a downtown Wells Fargo bank branch around 1:15 p.m. holding a fast food bag. He then approached a teller and demanded money claiming that the bag in his hand contained a bomb.

The teller complied with the request and gave him an undisclosed amount of cash. Hegwood then fled the scene on foot, leaving the bag behind.

Investigators say security officers at the bank followed Hegwood as they called police and gave them updates on his location. Officers were able to apprehend Hegwood as he entered a nearby parking garage.

Hegwood resisted arrest and claimed that he had another bomb in his backpack. Bomb technicians were called, and it was determined that the fast food bag only contained two apple pies.

He was booked into jail and charged with robbery and resisting arrest. He is being held without bond due to, in part, to violating his parole.
