Lakeview, Minn. (The Weekly Vice) - Steven Wilson, a 52-year-old Minnesota man was jailed Saturday after he allegedly beat his eighth-grade son after the boy failed to win a basketball game.
According to police, officers were dispatched to Lakeville South High School after shocked witnesses watched a parent beating his son following a basketball game that the boy's team had lost.
Investigators say Wilson attacked his son in a hallway outside the school gym - holding the boy down with one hand while delivering repeated punches to the boy's face. The confrontation was stopped by other parents who intervened on the boy's behalf.
Lakeview police chief Tom Vonhof stated that he had never seen such an incident in the 30 years he's been on the force.
Wilson was booked into the Dakota County Jail on a fifth-degree domestic assault charge. He was released after posting a $10,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in jail and a possible $3,000 fine.
