Gwinnett, Georgia (The Weekly Vice) - Ranaldo Jack, a 17-year-old Georgia resident was jailed Tuesday after he allegedly tried to rob a home by climbing down the home owner's chimney.
Fortunately, he didn't get very far.
According to police, Edyn Rodriquez was standing in his driveway Tuesday afternoon when he heard cries for help coming from his neighbor's roof top.
Officers and the Gwinnett County Fire Department arrived on the scene a short time later to discover a man had become lodged inside the home owner's chimney.
Rescuers climbed to the roof and threw a rope into the chimney. Jack was then pulled to safety, although he had some serious explaining to do.
He was escorted down a ladder into the handcuffs of awaiting officers at about 1:30 p.m.. Jack told detectives that he had been trapped inside the chimney since 3 a.m. the previous morning (10 full hours).
Investigators say Jack became stuck inside the chimney while attempting to burglarize the home. When neighbors asked Jack what he was doing inside the chimney, Jack allegedly replied "I'm stupid."
Homeowner, Tsehainesh Kidane, wasn't aware that someone had been pulled from her chimney until she arrived home from work and was informed by neighbors and news media who lingered at the scene.
Jack attempted to give officers a false name, however that effort failed as well. An officer on the scene recognized Jack from previous dealing and correctly identified him.
Jack was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on charges of burglary and providing false information to a police officer.
