Michael Selleneit Shot His Neighbor For "Telepathically" Raping His Wife

Centerville, Utah (The Weekly Vice) - Michael Selleneit, a 73-year-old Centerville man was jailed Sunday after he allegedly shot his neighbor because the victim "telepathically" raped his wife and threatened to kill him.

According to the Centerville Police Department, 41-year-old Tony Pierce was doing yard work at his mobile home around 5:00 p.m. when he was shot by Selleneit, who lived in the same trailer park.

Selleneit allegedly shot the victim twice, once in the leg and once in the back. Pierce's 8-year-old daughter was inside the home when the shooting occurred.

Investigators say Selleneit called 911 himself and admitted to the shooting, claiming he shot Pierce in self defense.

When asked by detectives why he shot the victim, Selleniet stated that Pierce "telepathically" raped his wife, threatened to kill them, and attempted to get them to take drugs. Officers found no evidence to support him claim.

The weapon, a
.380-caliber pistol was recovered after Selleneit told police where it was located.

Peirce was airlifted from the scene and taken to a local hospital. The bullet that entered his back hit several vital organs, including the sac around his heart. He remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Michael Selleneit was booked into the Davis County Jail and charged with attempted murder and unlawful weapon possession. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.

In 1991, Selleneit pleaded guilty but mentally ill to a felony count of attempted sexual abuse of a child, a conviction that prohibits him from possessing a gun. Police believe Selleneit’s wife purchased the gun at a pawn shop about a year ago. She was taken into custody for questioning, but was released.
