Salt Lake City, Utah (The Weekly Vice) - Utah, a state that's usually known for being a bit more conservative, broke a surprising record last month.
On September 24, 2011, more than 2,270 people stripped down to their underwear to participate in the 2011 Utah Undie Run. Guinness World Records says the surprising turnout trumped its previous record for largest gathering of people wearing nothing but their underwear. In fact, the previous record was beaten by more than 500 participants.
The Utah Undie Run is an event that has been organized to protest the state's "uptight" laws and conservative politics. Nudity, however, was banned by event organizers.
Participants ran from Gallivan Center to the state capitol in Salt Lake City wearing bras, panties, boxer shorts, night gowns or swimwear.
Organizers say the next Utah Undie Run has been scheduled for next August.
