Kissimmee, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Stacey Armstrong, a 35-year-old Florida woman was jailed Friday after she allegedly left a newborn baby outside in a running vehicle while shoplifting inside a grocery store.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to a Publix grocery store after store security officers caught Armstrong shoplifting two bags of candy and several cosmetics items.
The estimated cost of the alleged stolen items totalled $100, according to an arrest affidavit.
Investigators say Armstrong told store employees that she had stolen about $160 worth of items from another Publix grocery store in the area. When asked why she stole this time, she answered "I don't know sir, it was just stupid of me."
When deputies arrived at the store to take her into custody, Armstrong admitted that she had left her 11-year-old daughter and a newborn baby she was babysitting outside in the parking lot.
Deputies checked the parking lot and found the two children waiting inside a car that had been left running.
The baby was released to the child's mother while the 11-year-old was released to a family member.
Armstrong was booked into the Osceola County Jail on two counts of petty theft and one count of child neglect. She was released after posting $2,000 bail.
