Judith Stiles - Charged With Beating Daughter With Etch-A-Sketch, Child Found Hiding In Grocery Store Bathroom

Deltona, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Judith Stiles, a 45-year-old Florida woman was jailed Sunday after she allegedly beat her 12-year-old daughter with an Etch-A-Sketch and then kicked her out of the house.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to an area Publix grocery store after store employees found a 12-year-old girl hiding in the bathroom.

Investigators say the girl told them that her mother kicked her out of the house after beating her with an Etch-A-Sketch toy drawing tablet.

During the argument, Stiles allegedly struck the girl with an Etch-A-Sketch. When the girl picked up a chalk board to defend herself, Stiles struck her so hard, the chalkboard swung around and hit the girl in the face.

The girl was forced to leave the home, wandering the streets for approximately two hours before eventually arriving at a neighborhood Publix grocery store. She stated that she had intended to stay away from the home because she was afraid to return.

When deputies arrived at Stiles' home, they noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from her and slurred speech. Stiles also reportedly admitted to striking the girl with the Etch-A-Sketch.

She was booked into the Volusia County Jail and charged with child abuse and child neglect. Florida DCF removed the girl from Stiles' home and place her with a family friend.
