Jennifer Gomes - Teacher - Jailed After Leaving Bomb Threat At Elementary School To Get Day Off

Denver, Colorado (The Weekly Vice) - Jennifer Gomes, a 42-year-old Catholic School gym teacher was jailed after she allegedly threatened to bomb the school in an effort to get the day off.

According to Denver Police, Gomes taught bilingual students at Escuela de Guadalupe Catholic School once a week.

On October 17th, she reportedly left a note on the front door of the school stating that there was a bomb inside.

When staff members found the note, the facility was evacuated and authorities were contacted. No explosive devices were found inside the school and parents were notified of the incident.

Investigators say Gomes was apprehended two days later after she admitted to writing the bomb threat.

When asked why she committed the act, Gomez reportedly told officers that she didn't want to go to work that day.

Court records show that in 2009, Gomez was charged with negligent child abuse after she reportedly left several children in her care alone while she chased after some dogs that had gotten loose. She received community service for that incident.

Gomes was booked into jail and charged with false reporting of explosives, a class six felony. She was released after posting $2,000. She is scheduled to appear in court on November 3rd.
