Conroe, Texas (The Weekly Vice) - Dequita Gay Hoefling, a 40-year-old Texas woman was jailed Thursday after she allegedly walked into her 13-year-old daughter's room and then stabbed her repeatedly while the girl slept.
According to police, officers were dispatched to Conroe Regional Medical Center after a 13-year-old girl arrived at the emergency room with multiple stab wounds to her back and neck.
The young girl was brought to the hospital by her father who told detectives how the little girl acquired her stab wounds.
Investigators say the child was asleep inside the couple's home when Hoefling entered the teen's bedroom and began stabbing the child repeatedly as she slept.
The teen managed to flee the room and wake up her father, who rushed the girl to the hospital. Police have not yet released a motive for the incident.
The victim has been transferred from Conroe to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was to undergo surgery. Authorities say the girl is expected to survive.
Hoefling was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault/domestic violence. Her bond has been set at $500,000.
