Colby Cardoso - Jailed After Attempting To Steal Vehicle From Fatality Scene - Gets A Noggin-Clobbering For His Efforts

Tampa, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Colby Wade Cardoso, a 20-year-old Tampa resident was jailed Monday after he allegedly attempted to steal a truck stopped at a fatal accident, with a child in the back seat.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the scene of a car accident that killed two people at about 5:30 a.m.

While the officers were processing the accident scene, Cardoso stopped his vehicle nearby and attempted to steal a witness's
2001 black Ford pickup truck while her 5-year-old daughter was in the backseat. When the truck didn't start, Cardoso exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Investigators say an officer chased Cardoso and caught up with him, but Cardoso resisted arrest. The officer was hit several times during the struggle, and the suspect even attempted to remove the officer's gun from his holster. The officer received injuries to his face and neck. Cardoso sustained upper body injuries. Both were treated at a local hospital.

Cardoso was booked into jail and charged with burglary of an occupied vehicle, attempted grand theft auto, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, and depriving an officer of his means of protection.
