Flagler, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Teresa Martone, a 35-year-old Florida woman was jailed after deputies allegedly discovered wall to wall filth, three children and 32 animals living inside her home.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to Martone's residence after receiving a report that conditions inside the home were unsuitable for children.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found a home that wasn't suitable for children, or the 32 animals that also inhabited the home.
Arriving deputies entered the home to find a virtual landfill inside.
Investigators say the floor of the residence was caked with a mix of garbage, animal feces, empty food containers and other debris. The deputy reported that he was unable to make his way through the house because of the "overabundance of garbage and animal feces on the floor."
Deputies reported that the kitchen was also littered with garbage, dirty dishes, grease and containers of cleaning products that hadn't likely been used in quite awhile.
Living inside the home were three children (ages 5, 8 and 14), all of which were found shoeless despite the condition of the floor. A five-year-old girl told CPS workers that it had been days, possibly weeks, since she had last bathed.
Also living inside the 1300 square foot house was 23 cats, six dogs, two ferrets and one rabbit.
Martone was booked into jail on three counts of child abuse and 30 counts of animal cruelty. She has been released after posting bond.
All three children were taken into protective custody.
