Jared Gallagher - Football Coach - Jailed After Pouncing On Student, Required Three Taser Jolts To Bring Him Down

Landis, N.C. (The Weekly Vice) - Jared Gallagher, a 40-year-old assistant football coach at Gorriher-Lipe Middle School was jailed Thursday after he allegedly attacked a 12-year-old student, the team's coach and police officers who eventually had to Tase him into submission.

According to police, middle school football players were headed to the locker room Thursday when Gallagher pulled a 12-year-old student aside and began hitting and choking him.

Investigators say the team's head coach, Douglas Pruitt, attempted to intervene, but that only resulted in Gallagher attacking Pruitt. When Pruitt attempted to call 911, Gallagher allegedly pulled his arm behind his back, preventing him from doing so.

A nearby parent then intervened in the brawl, which allowed Pruitt enough time to call 911.

When police and sheriff's deputies arrived and ordered Gallagher to the ground, Gallagher reportedly took a fighting stance and challenged them, stating "are we going to do this?"

Deputies responded by delivering a jolt of team pride, courtesy of a Taser device.

Seemingly unaffected by the Taser, Gallagher pulled the Taser's prongs from his skin and continued to ignore orders to submit.

That's when deputies delivered two more jolts of a Taser which finally brought Gallagher into submission.

When officers searched Gallagher's truck, they recovered a 9 mm handgun with 79 rounds of ammunition.

Gallagher was booked into the Rowan County Jail on misdemeanor counts of child abuse, assault on a school official, resisting a police officer and possessing weapons on a school campus. He was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
