Larry Stone Jail Booking Report
Tavares, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Larry Stone, a 32-year-old Lake County Jail inmate racked up additional charges after he allegedly used a flaw in the jail's phone system to bail himself out of jail.
According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Stone exploited an error in the jail phone's credit system to raise enough money to pay his own bail.
Investigators say Stone made a call from the jail's phone system that went unanswered. Following the call, Stone noticed that his jail account was credited more money than it cost him to make the call.
Seizing the opportunity, Stone repeated the process - making 77 incomplete phone calls using his jail account. The credits from the incomplete calls accumulated into $1,250 that piled into his account. He used the money to bail himself out of jail.
Jail officials eventually discovered the error after noticing a large amount of incomplete phone calls and credits to Stone's account.
Stone turned himself back into jail just hours after he was released. He now faces two counts of larceny theft, fraud and burglary. He is being held on a $1,200 bond.
