Splendora, Texas (The Weekly Vice) - Dennis Hollifield, 47, and girlfriend Carolyn Garrison, 44, were jailed Sunday after a brawl over a loaded gun led cops to a stash of meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
According to the Montgomery County Police Department, officers were called to the couple's home around 6:30 p.m. on reports of a domestic disturbance.
When officers arrived on the scene, they learned that the couple had been arguing because Garrison's 3-year-old granddaughter found a loaded 9mm handgun belonging to Hollifield and began walking around the house with it.
Garrison then confronted Hollifield about leaving the gun laying around, and the dispute quickly turned physical.
Investigators say Hollifield led detectives to a dresser drawer where the gun had been put away.
Inside the dresser, however was a lot more than just a gun. Officers also reportedly found methamphetamine, multiple hypodermic needles, marijuana, and a scale believed to have been used to weigh drugs. There was also a loaded shotgun leaning against the living room wall.
The child was not inside the home when police arrived because her mother had already come to pick her up.
Hollifield was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance; misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor assault/family violence by contact. He also received a citation for making a firearm accessible to a child. His bond was set at $3,100.
Garrison was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, assault/family violence by contact, and three outstanding JP4 warrants. Her bond was set at $2,315 bond.
