Corey Lyons - Charged With Repeatedly Slamming Infant's Head Against Floor To Quiet Him, Baby Dies As A Result

Washington, Indiana (The Weekly Vice) - Corey Lyons, a 21-year-old Indiana man has been charged with murder after he allegedly tried to quiet a four-month-old baby by repeatedly slamming infant's head against the floor.

According to police, officers were dispatched after Lyons called 911 to report that his infant son had fallen and hit his head.

When police arrived at the home, Lyons told officers that the child had fallen out of a bouncy chair and hit his head on a bed. During questioning that took place that afternoon, Lyons changed his story and told detectives that the child had fallen out of his arms.

A little later in the evening, Lyons changed his story again and stated that he dropped the baby on purpose. When detectives asked why, Lyons reportedly stated that he thought scaring the baby would force the child to stop crying.

Meanwhile, the baby was taken to Daviess Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. An autopsy performed on on June 28 revealed the child's cause of death to be blunt force trauma.

Following the autopsy, police interviewed Lyons again on discrepancies between his story and the results of the autopsy.

That's when Lyons confessed to becoming frustrated when the baby wouldn't stop crying. He reportedly told detectives that he picked the baby up by the shoulders and then thrust the infant's head against the floor repeatedly in an attempt to quiet him.

Lyons was booked into the Daviess County Security Center on a charges of murder and felony neglect of a dependent resulting in death. His bond has been set at $1 million.
