Baltimore, MD (The Weekly Vice) - A 25-year-old Maryland woman may be facing charges after she allegedly attempted to give her 14-year-old niece a driving lesson, but ended up in Lake Montebello instead.
According to Baltimore Police, the aunt was giving her underage niece a driving lesson Tuesday when the teen accidentally put her foot on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake.
As a result, the mini-van the teen was driving crashed through a fence and launched into the lake. It then began sinking some 20 to 25 feet away from the water's edge.
Investigators say passing joggers pulled the girl, her aunt and 53-year-old great aunt to safety.
Charges are now pending against the teen's aunt who could be charged with permitting a child under 15 to operate a motor vehicle and permitting a motor vehicle to be driven on a highway by an unlicensed driver.
