Pensacola, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Leah June Rabon, a 20-year-old Pensacola woman was jailed Monday after she allegedly left her 9-month-old son at home alone so she could attend a bowling date.
According to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, police received an anonymous tip stating that a young child may be at home alone in Rabon's apartment.
When officers arrived at the woman's home and discovered that she wasn't there, they tracked down Rabon’s cell phone number and contacted her. When she confirmed that a child was alone inside the apartment, officers made a force entry into the residence and found the baby asleep in the bedroom. He was unharmed.
Investigators say Rabon was arrested when she returned later that night. When detectives asked why she left her son at home alone, she stated that she had been invited out on a bowling date and wanted to go.
The Florida Department of Children and Family services was contacted, who placed the child in the care of the boy's maternal grandparents.
Rabon was booked into the Escambia County Jail and charged with cruelty towards a child and child neglect. She is being held without bond.
