Naples, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Jonathan Paul Rorech, a 31-year-old Naples man was jailed Tuesday after he allegedly called 911 and falsely reported a shooting to avoid being arrested during a traffic stop.
According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, a deputy stopped Rorech around 1:00 a.m. because he was exceeding the posted speed limit of 30 MPH.
When the officer asked for his identification, he claimed that he had left his license at home. When the officer checked Rorech's information,it was discovered that his license had been revoked or suspended .
Before the officer could proceed with further action, he received a call that a shooting had occurred in the area. As the shooting was a higher priority, the officer let Rorech off the hook and responded to the shooting incident.
Investigators say when the officer arrived at the location of the reported shooting, he found that there were no shots fired. When he listened to the recording of the 911 call, he recognized Rorech's voice and discovered that the call was fake. Rorech was apprehended when he arrived at his home around 2:25 a.m.
Rorech was booked into jail and was charged with making a false 911 call and two counts of driving on a suspended license.
