Norfolk, Virginia (The Weekly Vice) - Jessica Boyle, a 30-year-old teacher at Sewell Point Elementary School in Norfolk committed a classic case of teacher FAIL when she reportedly auctioned off a group of black and mixed race students as part of a Civil War history lesson.

According to Sewell Point school administrators, Boyle was teaching a lesson on the Civil War when she instructed fourth-grade African-American and mixed race students to stand on one side of the classroom and White students to stand on the other. The African-American and mixed race students were then offered up for sale in a mock auction.

School Principal, Mary B. Wrushen, sent a letter home to parents stating her regret for the incident and promised to make sure it never happens again.

The Weekly Vice Opinion

Although there's certainly nothing criminal about what Miss Boyle did here, you really have to wonder about some of the dunderheads we have in the classroom. We've certainly profiled idiot teacher stories in the past that were more offensive - but it really takes effort to be quite this stoopid.
