Salem, Oregon (The Weekly Vice) - Stanislav Bakanov, a 30-year-old Keizer man was jailed after he allegedly drove his BMW 118 miles per hour to "make a YouTube video."
According to Salem police, a deputy pulled Bakanov over after he clocked him driving down Interstate 5 at dangerous speeds. Strong wind gusts were occurring at the time, causing tree branches to fly onto the highway and deeming the road conditions dangerous.
Investigators say when the deputy walked up to the vehicle, Bakanov was still filming on a camera mounted to the windshield. Bakonov claimed that he was only going about 90-100 MPH, however the video he was filming showed his speedometer reaching speeds of up to 118 miles per hour. The video was confiscated as evidence.
Bakanov was booked into the Marion County Jail and was charged with reckless driving. He was issued a fine of over $1,100 and his vehicle was impounded. His driving record showed that this was his third speeding incident in the past year.
