
Benson, North Carolina (The Weekly Vice) - Johnathan Avery, a 31-year-old North Carolina man was jailed Friday after he struck his son in the head with a spoon and then stitched up the wound with fishing line.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff's Office, an investigation was launched earlier this month after Avery brought his son to the hospital with an infected laceration that had been sewn up with fishing line.
Investigators say the wound was caused when Avery struck his son over the head causing a 3-inch laceration. Avery then attempted to close the wound by stitching it up with fishing line.
An investigation that spanned about three weeks resulted in Avery's arrest and the boy was taken into protective custody.
Avery was booked into the Wake County Jail on a charge of felony child abuse. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
