Stephanie Moreland Wore A $6,500 Panty-Liner - Jailed After Stealing Fur Coat, Hiding In Underwear While In Jail

Bloomington, Minnesota (The Weekly Vice) - Stephanie Travetta Moreland, a 46-year-old Brooklyn Park woman was jailed after she allegedly stole a fur coat, then hid it in her underwear for days while she was incarcerated.

According to Bloomington Police, Moreland went into an Alaskan Fur Company store on New Year's Eve and stole a short mink fur coat, worth $6,500.

An employee noticed that the coat was missing and asked Moreland if she had seen it, but she denied possessing the coat. Moreland then reportedly pulled up her dress, "mooned" the employee, and fled the scene in a vehicle.

The employee was able to write down the vehicle's license plate number as Moreland sped off. Moreland was apprehended a short time later.

During a search of Moreland's vehicle, Officers found a hanger from the store, but were unable to locate a fur coat. Moreland allegedly admitted to taking the coat but denied having possession of it.

Investigators say Moreland was booked into jail, where she was given a pat-down search and was scanned with a metal detector. She was then placed in a holding cell where she remained over the weekend.

When detectives questioned her again on Monday morning, she was told that she was going to face theft charges. She then confessed that she had the coat all along, and lifted up her dress to reveal that she had cut out the back of her underwear to make it look like she wasn't wearing any. The jacket was stuffed into the front of her underpants.

Moreland remained jailed and was charged with felony theft. She was released after posting $10,000 bail.
