Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi (The Weekly Vice) - Kyle Blaine Corr, 19, and Jeffrey Chase Phillips, 19, were jailed Tuesday after they allegedly attempted to break into a police station to steal marijuana out of his impounded vehicle.
According to Bay St. Louis police, members of a neighborhood watch group saw Corr running from underneath a raised house and called police. Officers found several stolen items in Corr's 2003 Ford truck, so they impounded it as part of a burglary investigation and took it to be stored in a garage at the police station.
Investigators say an officer became suspicious when Corr was desperately trying to get his truck back, and believed that he may attempt to break into the station to retrieve items out of the vehicle - or the vehicle itself. Detectives decided to place surveillance equipment around the vehicle.
Sure enough, Corr and an accomplice, later identified as Phillips, broke into the garage through a steel side door. Corr went right to his vehicle and started removing bags of marijuana from a side panel. Officers, who had been waiting, took Corr into custody at the scene. Phillips attempted to flee, but was apprehended a short time later.
Corr was booked into jail and charged with burglary, tampering with evidence, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver. He is being held without bond. Phillips was charged with burglary. He was released on bond.
