East Brookfield, Massachusetts (The Weekly Vice) - Jeffrey P. LeBlanc, a 30-year-old Spencer man was jailed Sunday after he allegedly gave a sick three-year-old girl a shot of heroin to "help make her feel better."
According to police, LeBlanc was apprehended by Shrewsberry authorities on outstanding warrants for a probation violation. He was also wanted for questioning about an incident involving his girlfriend's 3-year-old daughter that had happened about a week earlier.
Investigators say on October 21st, a child was rushed by ambulance to the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after she began "nodding off."
Medical staff found heroin in the toddler's system and a needle mark on her right arm. She was treated, released and then placed in state's custody.
Detectives questioned LeBlanc who admitted to giving the child heroin. He stated that she had been feeling sick and thought the heroin would make her feel better. He also admitted to being under the influence of heroin at the time.
LeBlanc was booked into jail and charged with distributing drugs to a minor, assault and battery on a child causing substantial injury, reckless endangerment of a child, and being present where heroin is kept.
Since he had two other pending cases against him for the previous charges, he is currently being held in lieu of $105,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 14th.
At the time of his arrest, he was on probation from charges of intent to commit a felony and theft of property.
A good drug treatment center in Massachusetts might be a good first stop for Mr. LeBlanc.
