Fort Lauderdale, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Martha Walker, a 41-year-old inmate locked up in Broward County on charges of murdering her mother with an ax faces new charges after she allegedly conspired to have her husband murdered as she awaits trial.
According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Walker plotted to have her husband killed from jail where she is awaiting trial on allegations of murdering her mother with an ax.
Investigators say another inmate went to deputies when Walker approached her with an interest in finding someone who would be willing to kill her North Carolina husband. Walker was reportedly interested in collecting the death benefits from her husband's life insurance policy.
Detectives set up an undercover sting operation to follow up on the informant's claim. A detective met with Walker who agreed to pay him $1,500 to carry out the murder. Walker then asked her sister for $1,500, leading her to believe the money was for legal fees.
Walker, who previously faced first-degree murder charges now faces a new charge of conspiracy to commit murder. She is being held without bond.
