Salt Lake City, Utah (The Weekly Vice) - An unknown suspect managed to escape the long arms of the law following a high speed chase in and around Salt Lake City, Utah.
And what high speed sports car did the suspect use to elude State Troopers? A giant yellow school bus.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a Highway Patrol Trooper was camped along I-15 around 5:30 a.m. keeping watch for a stolen vehicle. That's when a yellow school bus flew by, prompting a high speed chase amid light early morning traffic.
Investigators say the chase continued northbound on I-15 into Salt Lake City, with the suspect attempting to trick officers by pretending to use exit ramps before veering back onto the highway at the last moment (just to prove police weren't pursuing a rocket scientist).
The suspect finally did leave the highway, after merging onto I-80 and finally exiting onto Redwood Road.
After the suspect blew a red light, the Trooper decided he'd had enough and called off the chase.
The bus was later found abandoned after it had crashed into a tree.
"We will pursue any avenue that we can to identify this suspect and bring him into custody," said UHP Sgt. Larry Mower.
Investigators say no children were aboard the school bus and there were no injuries.
