Hempstead, New York (The Weekly Vice) - New York police have released video surveillance images of an unidentified man who reportedly beat a woman half to death with a hammer after she hired him to fix her toilet and complained when he did a 'crappy' job with it.
According to Nassau County Police, a 52-year-old woman was beaten nearly to death after she hired a day laborer known only as "Marvin" to fix her toilet. When the woman complained that the toilet still leaked after the repair, Marvin grabbed a hammer and delivered repeated blows her head.
Investigators say the woman was treated at an area hospital for multiple skull fractures and may never fully recover from injuries to her brain
"Inexplicably he becomes enraged and starts banging her over the head with a hammer repeatedly," said Nassau County Police Detective, Ray Cote.
Police obtained surveillance video from a nearby Home Depot store, where the woman and the suspect purchased supplies prior to the attack.
Marvin reportedly beat the woman unconscious in her bathroom and then left her on the floor in a pool of her own blood.
Investigators recovered a DNA sample of the man from the crime scene and then entered the results into a national database that tracks prior listings of a person's DNA profile. The database returned a match, linking the suspect to an unsolved crime in Texas involving a toddler who was raped in September, 2009.
The suspect is described as a 5-foot, 2-inch Hispanic male who may be seeking handyman work.
Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call 800-244-TIPS (8477).
