Clovis, New Mexico (The Weekly Vice) - Joey Maes, a 36-year-old Clovis man was jailed after he allegedly bit off a man's nose after he was asked to leave a social gathering.
According to Clover police, Maes was asked to leave a party in April of 2009. Soon after he left, he returned, kicked in the door, and ran into the kitchen. He then grabbed a knife and began to threaten other party-goes.
Investigators say several people attempted to restrain Maes. One man tried to take the knife out of Maes hands, but Maes retaliated by biting the man's nose off.
The victim's nose was later found laying on a cutting board in the kitchen. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. It's unknown as to if the man's nose was successfully reattached.
Maes was booked into jail and charged with one count of aggravated burglary and one count of aggravated battery until his case went to trial and he was found guilty.
On October 21st, 2010, he was sentenced to 10 years in the New Mexico State Penitentiary, and 3 years of intensively supervised probation after his prison term.
