Owensville, Indiana (The Weekly Vice) - Natalie Lawson, a 30-year-old Owensville woman was jailed Thursday after she allegedly left her child at a day care for 22 hours, later to be found at her house high on meth.
According to Owensville police, Lawson's mother waved down a deputy around 10:15 p.m. after Toyota's Day Care Facility called, informing her that Lawson had left her 2-year-old child there for 22 hours without returning their phone calls.
Investigators say officers went to Lawson's home and entered the residence after several knocks at the door failed to gain a response. Upon entry, deputies found Lawson in the living room appearing nervous and jittery.
Lawson told officers that she had a meth pipe in the bathroom, and that she hadn't slept in two days. Officers found the pipe and noted that there was meth residue on it. The house was also in disarray.
Indiana Department of Child Services was also contacted and determined that the child be placed in the custody of her grandmother.
Lawson was booked into jail and charged with neglect of a dependent, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $2,150.
