Gerald Maxwell Is A Slow Learner - Jailed After Burglarizing Same House He Was Caught Burglarizing Before

Sarasota, Florida (The Weekly Vice) - Gerald Maxwell, a 39-year-old Florida man was jailed Tuesday after burglarized the same home he burglarized last year.

His excuse? He stated he was merely leaving the homeowners a thank you note.

According to Sarasota Police, Maxwell was caught burglarizing the same home he was caught burglarizing in December of 2007.

He reportedly has a long arrest history which includes eight arrests for burglary since November of 2006.

Investigators say Maxwell pried open a window and crept into the home at about 10:30 Tuesday night. His entry triggered a motion sensor alarm which notified Sarasota police. Several officers and a police helicopter responded and surrounded the home.

When Maxwell finally surrendered and exited the home, he stated "I was going back in there to leave a thank you note, because I'm the guy who burglarized this place last year - I just got out of jail."

Inside the home, however, cops found a stack of jewelry they say Maxwell gathered together for the robbery attempt.

Maxwell was booked into the Sarasota County Jail on charges of burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also faces four counts of probation violation.
