Houston, Texas (The Weekly Vice) - Todd Ewanko, a 46-year-old Colgan Air pilot, was arrested Thursday after authorities found one of the largest child porn stashes in Texas history.
According to the Harris County Precinct 4: high-tech crimes unit, Ewanko came under investigation on or around June 20th when investigators were alerted to his Internet file-sharing activities. Police then executed a search warrant on his home.
Investigators say that the evidence found in Ewanko's home included 7 large hard drives and several cases of DVD's that had been filled with sexually explicit images of children.
So many images, in fact, the first computer file they searched contained 1.2 million images.
Detectives say Ewanko admitted to collecting child pornography and had allegedly built an advanced machine to make his
"Normally you'll see on a home machine - you'll see maybe one; maybe two hard drives," said Sgt. Spurger of the high-tech crimes unit. "I mean, that's the standard. You'll see one big one. Here you have seven big hard drives."
The high-tech crimes unit has stated that they will go through every image to ensure that no Houston-area children were involved while also searching for "live" victims.
Ewanko was booked into the Harris County Jail and has initially been charged with 6 counts of possession of child pornography. His bond set at $600,000.
Authorities say more counts could be forthcoming, noting that each image can technically be counted as a separate offense.
