Michelle Perrino Jail Booking Report
New Port Richey, Florida (The Weekly Vice) – Michelle Perrino, a 40-year-old Florida woman, was sentenced to Jail Monday after she started a fire inside her office so she could take the rest of the day off.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Perrino set a filing cabinet on fire at work, hoping to get the rest of the day off.
Investigators say Perrino was working at Bayonet Point Oxygen when she turned the filing cabinet into a ball of flames.
Investigators say Perrino fell under suspicion when she mentioned the fire had started in a filing cabinet during an employee meeting. Employees had not been told where the fire originated from.
Perrino quit her job as a customer service representative a few days later.
During the investigation, Perrino's former roommate told authorities that the fire was one of her many ploys to avoid work. He said before the fire, she had also tripped the main breaker for the office building so it would lose power and tampered with the phones so no calls could come in, all so she would be sent home from work early with pay.
Perrino was initially charged with arson when she was arrested in September, but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of criminal mischief and was sentenced to nine months in jail, followed by five years of probation. She must also pay $4,800 in restitution and have no contact with Bayonet Point Oxygen or its employees. (We're sure they'll be missing her).
