Billings, Montana (The Weekly Vice) – Megan Price, a 24-year-old Montana woman, was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly wrecked her car and then fled, leaving her two small children and a syringe filled with meth behind.
According to the Billings County Sheriff's Office, a witness called police at 3:41 a.m. to report she heard a loud crash and that a car had hit a telephone pole. She told 911 operators that she saw a female driver take two young children out of the car and run down an alley in heavy rain.
Investigators say when officers arrived, they found a Dodge Intrepid in an alley and a phone pole sheared in half. The front airbags had deployed, the key was still in the ignition and the car was still in drive.
Authorities found a full syringe filled with a clear liquid on the passenger seat and two empty children’s car seats in the back seat.
Another officer arrived and said he had tried to stop the same Dodge Intrepid for speeding about 30 minutes earlier but the driver had eluded the officer.
Police found the children inside a car parked in a garage a block away. The two young children, ages 2 and 4, were sleeping and huddled together.
The children were awakened and the oldest said his mother had crashed the car and left them there. The children appeared scared and nervous but otherwise unharmed.
A short time later, while officers were still at the crash scene, a car slowly drove by the garage, then sped off. Police stopped the car only to discover it was Price behind the wheel.
She was booked into the Yellowstone County Detention Facility on charges of drug possession, criminal endangerment, endangering the welfare of children and burglary. Her bond was set at $30,000.
The children were turned over to state social workers.
